At MediLodge of St. Clair, rehabilitation is our specialty. In fact, over 75 percent of the residents that are admitted via Medicare to our facility are able to return home or back to their assisted living facilities after treatment/rehabilitation. Here are key facets of our rehab program:

When your loved one enters our facility our physical, occupational, and speech therapists develop customized treatment goals that help maximize each person's potential.

Therapy is provided seven days per week, from early morning until later in the evening. Our ample therapy rooms provide plenty of space for residents' care and rehabilitation. Separate treatment rooms are provided for each type of therapy, allowing a variety of sessions to be scheduled at the same time. Specialized materials, tools, activities, and plans are utilized to help residents regain skills and independence.

In addition to more traditional therapy, many of our activities and outings reinforce skills that need a bit of work - especially in areas of fine motor skills. Doing things like putting a lure on a fishing pole, sewing on a button, planting a seed, or stirring a batch of cookies also help improve functioning.

Managing pain is often critical to a person's recovery. Understanding this, MediLodge of St. Clair's on-site physiatrist is a key member of our rehab team. A physiatrist (pronounced "fizz-eye-a-trist") is a medical doctor who is trained in rehabilitation techniques and managing pain after an injury, surgery, or medical event. Our physiatrist also helps residents who have experienced strokes or amputations as well as those who are suffering from phantom limb pain and discomfort from arthritis, neuromuscular disorders like Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and other physical issues.

For people who’ve been with us and want to continue, or for anyone who needs it, we offer outpatient therapy seven days per week, from early in the morning to later in the evening. Our therapy staff has specialized experience with hip and knee issues, as well as other orthopedic areas and prosthetics.
